My favorite products for 2017

Last year was very busy and I didn’t realize how it flew by, a lot has happened and a lot has changed. Still, some new beauty favorites kept my good spirits in 2017 and I wanted to write a post about it and share it with you guys.

Garnier Biphase Micellar Water

16565_xlarge_1.jpg

I think that almost every beauty guru has raved about this cleansing micellar water and there is a reason why. Since I’ve tried it, I think I went through three bottles at least and there is nothing like this product to take my mascara off. I normally use it for my eye makeup, but if I am too lazy to wash my face, it works just fine for removing foundation and lipstick as well.

L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask

SK30_1_1This range of clay-based masks came out not too long ago and as someone who loves to pamper their skin, I had to try it out. I went for the Exfoliate and Refining Mask that promises to improve your skin texture. I have to say that there are no magical results, but my skin feels much clearer and fresh after using the mask (maybe I have to use it for a little longer). Apart from the clay, there are tiny pieces inside that help with exfoliating and getting rid of your old skin. I put this product in my favorites since so far this is the best mask I have tried out and working on skin texture is work in process that takes a lot of time and dedication.

The Ritual of Karma Sun Protection

fsdsdI have already written a post about this SPF protection cream, but if you haven’t read it make sure to check it out! Since the summer continued quite far ahead last year, I used the cream all the way through October. Plus, I am currently using a cream containing glycol acid, so I will soon be returning to this favorite of mine.

L’Oreal Infallible Foundation

maxresdefault.jpgSince I have an acne-prone skin, I used to wear one of Vichy’s foundations for years. Then it was discontinued out of nowhere and I had to switch to one of their much heavier ones, needless to say, I didn’t stick with it for too long. I was very skeptical towards foundations from the drugstore and I’ve always thought they are going to invigorate my skin even more. After trying this one from L’Oreal, however, I changed my opinion about drugstore foundations completely and I could not be more happy with the wear and the coverage I get from it.

Maybelline Lash Sensationalmaybelline-lash-sensational-mascara-black-schwarz-maybelline-new-york--10017977_B_P.jpg

Are you surprised? I guess not 😀 since every beauty guru was practically in love with this mascara, I did not stray far from the common opinion about this product and I can say, hands down, it is one of my very favorites. It gives me both the length and volume I need and if I want things to get a bit more dramatic I just put an additional coat and pre-curl my lashes with a lash curler. It is easy to take off and rarely smudges, especially if I did not overdo it with the moisturizer.

Bourjois Color Boost Crayon

z13789883Q.jpgI am a sucker for red lips and I do not mind wearing them even on a daily basis. Yet, I find that many lipsticks are rather drying and uncomfortable to wear every day. Therefore, once I found this lip crayon by Bourjois I have worn it regularly without any problems. I have it in the color Red Sunrise and I have already purchased a second lipstick since this one is already running low. I know that Bourjois is not easy to find in Austria, but hey, that is why we have Notino and online shopping, right?

Narciso Rodriguez Poudrée Perfume

item_XL_11739546_17090268After all those budget-friendly options, it is time for something a tiny bit more luxurious. I love all sorts of fragrances and I get a mini heart attack if I am out at the door and realize I have forgotten to put some perfume on. I  do not have a huge collection and I try to keep things in rotation since there are so many fragrances that I want to try that I just can’t wait to go through the bottle and get a new one. Narciso Rodriguez’s Poudrée has definitely been my most favorite one throughout this year and I love its powdery, flowery scent. I feel it is a very springy aroma so make sure to try it out!

There you go, these are some of the things that found their constant spot on my beauty table and there are not leaving soon. I hope you found those reviews helpful and Enjoy!

Caudalie

I have been hearing about Caudalie a lot in the past few years, but I did not have the chance to try it out until now. The brand is actually the same age as I am (Team ’95) so I felt kind of connected to it once I realized that. If you are not familiar with them, they are a French company, mainly sold in pharmacies (at least in Austria) and they offer high-quality facial and body skincare.  I am a keen YouTube-watcher and one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Fleur de Force, was doing a video about Christmas gift guides and then she mentioned one of those Caudalie crackers and some other present ideas that they are doing this year.

Maybelline Fit Me (Matte+Poreless)

A new discovery on my shelf has been being tested for the past month before I write this post – the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. I always struggle to find makeup, which gets along with my skin, does not break me out and stays even the whole day. I popped into DM a few months ago and I saw that this foundation was on sale so I decided that even if I don’t like it, it would not be a big loss. However, to my surprise, I fell in love with it and now I will tell you why.

20171005_095856.jpg

I have went through different brands of foundation both from the drugstore and the pharmacy, but what my biggest flaw is, is that I stick with the things I like and I do not change them if I like them. That was the case with one foundation from Vichy, since I loved the texture and the color and I kept buying it for more than three years before they have discontinued it.

I haven’t tried any of the other Maybelline foundations, but this one grabbed my attention for several reasons. First of all, it is stated on the packaging that it should mattify your face and keep it looking poreless. Since I have oily skin and … well … not huge pores, but they are there, I was immediately attracted. The second reason was the packaging. I really don’t fancy those foundations that you have to spill out of the tube, I just dread it every time. The last reason is a very practical one – it is rather cheap. Cheap doesn’t always mean bad, on the contrary – it retails for around 10 euros, which is more than decent for its quality and the standard 30ml of product.

I normally use my fingers to put the foundation on my face (sponge didn’t work that great for me) and from the first swipe, you can feel that the texture is really smooth, almost velvety. I use the product in combination with a hydrating creme underneath or an SPF cream and that has worked out just fine. The finish is, of course, matte and it tends to stay so for several hours. Maybe a few touch ups with a powder would be needed if you have a rather oily skin, but if you have a mixed-type skin, it should work just fine.

What I really loved about the Maybelline’s Fit Me foundation is that it doesn’t oxidize since I had experience with products that do and let me tell you it is not a pretty picture. Once I have spread a product on my face and went out, only to check myself in the mirror three hours later with an orange face and a few charming orange streaks on my cheeks from an unsmeared foundation. Definitely not a keeper!

Since everyone’s skin is different, this is only my experience with the foundation. I would highly recommend going to the drugstore, Douglas or any of the other retailers and checking a tester of the product yourself, in order to be sure of how it fits with your skin and its tones. I hope this brief review was helpful.

Enjoy!

Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam

This is a product I have been using for the past three years and I haven’t even thought of switching to something else. In my teenage years, I suffered from oily, acne prone skin and I was looking for something that will battle all that. I started out with Clinique’s mini kit “Acne Solutions”. As time went by my skin gradually healed and its state improved, however, I still needed a good cleanser.

My after-summer favorites

I decided to introduce a new category to my blog and mainly “Beauty”. I hope you have fun reading about the products I find and try.The summer is almost gone, but the consequences of the sun are still there. I think I sunbathed a little bit more and now since my tan is fading, I have to battle dry skin, which let me tell you, is not the best thing. Today I wanted to share some of the products that became favorites in the last few weeks.
